Health department plans smoking cessation class

Reach Healthy Communities will offer a community-based smoking cessation class this year. The class, which is funded through the Bartholomew County Health Department, is an eight-week program that will start April 9. It meets once a week from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Cost of the class is $35.

Pre-registration and payment for the class is preferred. There is a minimum of at least eight participants for the class to take place. To pre-register, call 379-4927. Cash and checks will be accepted. Checks should be made out to Columbus Regional Health Foundation. Payments should be sent to Columbus Regional Hospital at 2400 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201 ATTN: Stephanie Womack, tobacco prevention coordinator.

If you pre-register and pay for the class but the class does not meet minimum participation, money will be refunded. This group program is open to anyone 18 and older. Medication can be available to participants who qualify and live in Bartholomew County by the Bartholomew County Health Department.
