HOPE — An elderly man who was reportedly on fire died Tuesday afternoon near Hope.
At 1:53 p.m., emergency units were sent to a residence northwest of Hope in a rural area. When emergency medical technicians arrived, they notified dispatchers they were treating a 76-year-old male at that location who had caught on fire.
The victim was reported dead about 15 minutes after the initial call, according to Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Capt. John Martoccia.
Investigators were at the scene late Tuesday attempting to confirm what happened, Martoccia said.
Further details were being withheld pending notification of next of kin, he said.
