Hostess deals get judge's approval

Follow The Republic:

A bankruptcy judge in New York this morning approved the sale of Wonder Bread, other products and numerous Hostess Brands production plants, including the closed Dolly Madison bakery on National Road in Columbus, to Flowers Foods.

Flowers, based in Thomasville, Ga., will also get Nature's Pride, Butternut, Home Pride and Merita breads as part of the $360 million deal.

Hostess Brands also won U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain's approval to sell its Twinkies brand, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos, to Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co. for $410 million. A third deal, the sale of Beefsteak, a regional bread brand, to Grupo Bimbo for $31.9 million also got the judge's legal blessing.
