The Bartholomew County Humane Society will conduct a groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m. Tuesday for its new $1.5 million animal shelter south of Columbus, expected to be completed within a year.
The 8,000-square-foot facility, which will be constructed a half-mile south of the current building behind the Duke Energy substation on County Road 200S, will more than triple the size of the existing 2,400-square-foot shelter.
