Columbus figure skater Kacie Kotnik continues to pile up achievements on the ice.
Kotnik placed fourth in the senior ladies event at the recent Eastern Great Lakes Regional Figure Skating Championships to earn a spot in the 22-state Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships from Nov. 9-13 in Cleveland.
The Midwestern Section is an elite competition where only the top-12 skaters from the Midwestern Section, four from each participating region, qualify to compete in the senior ladies event at sectionals.
The top four skaters at the Sectional Championships will advance to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January.
This is the fourth time that Kotnik has advanced out of regional competition and has gone on to represent Columbus and the Lincoln Center Figure Skating Club at the sectional or national level.
Kotnik remains the only female singles skater from the Lincoln Center Figure Skating Club to advance past the regional level.
She is a two-time regional champion, a competitor at the U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships and the current U.S. Collegiate silver medalist.
