Pick up frugal tips during free library program
A free program about living frugally will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in the Red Room of the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St.
“Living FruGAL and Fabulous” will be presented by newspaper columnist Whitney Smith.
Learn how living a fabulous life doesn’t have to cost you a fortune. Smith will offer tips for saving money on everyday items, including clothing, food and travel.

Retro Rock fundraiser
Mill Race Center’s fourth annual Retro Rock fundraising event will be from 6 to 11:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Mill Race Center, 900 Lindsey St.
Retro Rocks Our Troops will feature The Headliners, who will perform a mix of dance hall and classic tunes from the 1960s and ‘70s.
Additional entertainment includes:
Tickets cost $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at Mill Race Center and the Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center, 1039 Sycamore St. or online at millracecenter.org.
Proceeds benefit Mill Race Center and LCNFC. You must be at least 21 to attend.
Sculptor to discuss
An artist reception for sculptor Mark Cooper will be conducted at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at the IU Center for Art and Design, 310 Jackson St.
Cooper will discuss the transformation of the “YuYu Columbus” exhibit since its installation at the center in July and what it’s like, as an artist, to create art and hand it over to others to complete.
The sculptor also will discuss the importance of encouraging and mentoring others to discover and cultivate their own inner artist.
A question-and-answer session will follow.
Refreshments will be provided.
