The condition of a Columbus man who suffered head injuries after his motorcycle struck a car earlier this week has improved.
Described as critical Wednesday, the condition of James J. Jowers, 42, was upgraded to fair early Thursday evening, according to IU Health Methodist Hospital spokesman Gene Ford.
The Locust Drive resident was not wearing a helmet when his 2004 Harley-Davidson collided with a car at the intersection of State and Gladstone streets early Tuesday morning, according to police.
The crash took place on a yellow light as the car, which was attempting a left-hand turn, crossed into Jowers' path.
