COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus Police Department is seeing a surge of interest in neighborhood watch programs after high-profile efforts to address problems at some city hotspots.
Matt Myers, spokesman for Columbus Police Department, said three neighborhoods are having organizational meetings for neighborhood watches this week, and he has spoken to several other groups who are interested.
This year, the city began focusing more community development and policing efforts on the Ninth Street Park and the 11th and Washington streets neighborhoods.
