Commissioner faces theft, official misconduct charges

Follow The Republic:

Jennings County Commissioner Robert "Bob" Willhite turned himself in Monday at the county jail, accused of theft and official misconduct, both Class D felonies.

When contacted by phone, Willhite would only say, "I'm not guilty," and referred all questions to his attorney.

Willhite said he could not answer whether he will continue to serve as commissioner while the charges are pending. He posted $1,055 cash bond and was released at about 8:51 a.m. Monday from the jail, according to the Jennings County Sheriff's office.
