A Jennings County couple died in a three-vehicle accident in southwest Ohio.
Ohio authorities identified the couple as Robert and Margaret Large, both 66, of 925 S. County Road 185E, North Vernon.
Robert Large was driving a minivan in Warren County’s Clearcreek Township, about 35 miles northeast of Cincinnati, on Tuesday afternoon when the accident occurred, according to a statement from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A 45-year-old Leesburg, Ohio, woman failed to stop her car at an intersection and hit a large truck, forcing it into a head-on collision with the North Vernon couple’s minivan, the statement said.
The Leesburg woman was flown to a hospital with serious injuries, and the truck driver was not seriously injured, the statement said.
After Robert Large retired from the U.S. Air Force, he and his wife recently moved from Ohio to the Country Meadows subdivision southeast of Vernon to be near family members, according to family friend Rita Elmore.
The couple attended the New Bethel United Methodist Church near Zenas, Elmore said. Margaret Large was known to be a talented and enthusiastic quilter, she said.
