Today — October Fest and Music in the Park. 2 p.m. at the North Vernon City Park. Includes live music, kids’ candy walk, cake walk, face painting, games, puzzles and pumpkin decorating. The free event is being sponsored by the Jennings County Youth Foundation.
19 – “Dinner at Eight, Dead By Nine.” A one-act comedy performed by the Jennings County High School Drama. 7 p.m. in the JCHS Commons. Tickets are $4 apiece and can be purchased through a Drama Club member or by calling 346-5588.
25 – Open House: North Vernon City Hall and Civic Building. 1 p.m. Former Carnegie Building on Walnut Street in downtown North Vernon. Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman will attend. The event is free and open to the public.
26-27 — The Haunted House. Building 23 at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center near Butlerville. 7-11 p.m. Local organizations will present frightening experiences on the first and second floors of the old hospital building. Tickers are $12 at the door. $2 discount tickets available through sponsors. Non-profits such as school groups, civic organizations, sports teams, clubs and churches are all eligible to participate as sponsors. For more details, call 592-1410.
Through 31 — Harvest Fest Scarecrow Contest. Downtown North Vernon. Sponsored by the North Vernon Merchants Association. Information: 346-1100, 346-8995, 953-1066.
