Jennings firefighters extinguish fire at home's garage

Follow The Republic:

PARIS CROSSING —  Flames erupted at 9 a.m. this morning in the detached two-car garage of a house in a rural area of southwest Jennings County, four miles west of Paris Crossing.

Nobody was hurt after the fire started at the property on Jennings County Road 1050 South, said Jennings County Sheriff's Department Maj. Jerry Shepherd.

While Marion Township Fire Chief Brandon Smith said the garage and a car kept in the garage were totally destroyed, a pickup truck stored in the building received only minor damage. A small area of siding on the nearby house was also scorched, Smith added.

The names of the owners were not available, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
