Jennings County High School senior Kyle Poole recently was accepted into the U.S. Air Force Academy.
“When I got the letter, I was overwhelmed with joy; it was great,” he said.
In order to prepare for the application process, Kyle worked hard to “keep up my academics as best as I could,” as well as volunteer at a youth camp and take up extracurricular activities.
“My favorite activity was archery,” Kyle said. “That’s where I’ve gained most of my leadership qualities.”
When asked why he wanted to join the Air Force instead of becoming a commercial pilot, Kyle cited his ancestral roots.
“My family is really deeply rooted in the military” Kyle said. “It goes back generations.”
Kyle, the son of Brian and Denise Poole, will graduate in June. He will leave for the academy next summer.
Luke Coquerille, a 2005 graduate, was the most recent Jennings County High School student selected for the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He has graduated from the academy and is flying jets.
Mason Smith is a Jennings County High School senior.
