One of two Kentucky residents arrested with stolen property near Tipton Lakes Friday was re-arrested in downtown Columbus on burglary charges only an hour after being released Saturday, police said.
Late Friday morning, a woman residing on Persimmon Court, located west of Wood Lake, called 911 to report a stranger had been in her back yard, according to Columbus Police spokesman Sgt. Matt Harris.
With the assistance of county deputies, a vehicle matching the woman's description was stopped at 11:38 a.m. near the intersection of County Road 200 South and 400 West, just two miles west of the woman's home, Harris said. As officers talked with the driver, identified as Brian K. Jones, 32, of Corbin, Kentucky, he appeared to be extremely nervous - which prompted the officers to search the car, the police spokesman said.
A computer check showed the couple was in possession of items that had earlier been reported stolen in Washington County, and both Jones and his passenger, Christie R. Vanderpol, 33, of Williamsburg, Kentucky, were arrested on charges of possession of stolen property, Harris said.
