Members of The King’s Brass are stand-up people.
The nine-member ensemble, pictured in part below, is more likely to purposely miss a note than to take a seat too often during its energetic performances, including one scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1751 27th St.
The free concert is part of the mainstream Music At Asbury series that encompasses a wide variety of styles and formats.
“We are busy coming down the aisles,” group leader and trumpeter Tim Zimmerman said before the group’s last local performance three years ago.
“We’re at the front and we’re at the back.
Members, playing instruments including three trumpets, three trombones, a tuba, keyboard and percussion, perform tunes from Handel to jazz spirituals with one perspective front and center.
“It’s a sin to bore people with anything related to Christianity,” Zimmerman said.
