History has a way of repeating itself. Just as in the Old Testament after God rescued the Israelites from Pharaoh, they were always going astray in search of other gods, always forgetting what God had done for them in the past, delivering them from captivity, giving them freedom, supplying their every need, even when they had their doubts of how He would do it, and always showing them mercy for their disobedience. There were many times that they were handed over to bad kings to punish them for their disobedience to God. But, every time they realized what they had done they cried out to God for help. God heard their cries and He rescued them.
These days as I look around at the way things are going in the world, I see that we are doing the same as the Israelites had done so many times in the past.
Many people today have turned their backs on God and instead are going after other gods, things that they feel they can’t live without, things they think the government “owes them,” things that make them feel good for a while, until another god comes along and catches their eye and captures their hearts, anything to keep their eyes off of the thing they truly need most in their lives, and that is God.
He is the only one that can give us all we need when we need it and sometimes when we don’t. He is the only one that can deliver us from this captivity that we have brought on ourselves.
We as a nation need to start crying out to Him to forgive us for all of our sins, and heal our land and to deliver us from the bad king that is in charge of this country. We need to stop looking for things or other gods to try and fill the empty holes we have in all our lives.
People need to stop trying to get what we can out of this corrupt government and start receiving what God has to give us, which is more than we could ever fathom. People must stop embracing the bad in this world and start embracing, once again, the good that people continue to turn their backs on. We need to ask for God’s mercy and grace.
