Freedom of speech! Truly a blessing in this land we live in and call home. I appreciate the opinions and the freedom to express them. I am sure others who disagree with my thoughts will feel the same. Won’t they?
So the talk is about if the “Slimdown” was right or wrong? Is the tea party the root of all evil? Should you even care that the national debt is now $17 trillion?
The fight against ObamaCare is the right move. Government forcing citizens to purchase items under threat of penalties is not American. Just in Bartholomew County alone how many have been affected by reduced hours due to the mandate. So, should have the government shutdown over this? Yes! There comes a time when you must stand, not just sit around finding ways to make everyone happy, where in the end no one is, except for those that do not have to deal with the issues they have created.
Every bad, unpopular thing that happens in D.C. is not the doing of the tea party. However, if standing up for what you believe is the wrong thing to do, then so be it. Interesting how it is only bad to stand if the tea party agrees with an issue. How many organizations out there have their names tarnished when they stand for their ideas? Not many. I support the differing views that are written in this very paper because you have the right to express them, but why not the same support when the view is from the flip side?
I wish the government had been shut down ’til they fixed the national debt issue, which is without a doubt a spending issue. What line items were cut during the shutdown? The veterans death benefits, memorials and state parks (even ones that the feds do not contribute to), private businesses that are on government lands.
This was the best you could do? How long have we been playing this game? No one side is immune to fault. Now we have once again increased the debt and found $2 billion Kentucky can have and another $1.6 billion for Pakistan. Now back the truck up. You did not blink at cutting checks for these items, but you could not squeeze the orange so the death benefits where paid?
Plain and simple, every single American should be raising Cain about this national debt. Disregard how it may impact you today but how about the level of debt that is going to be hung around your children’s necks? We all care about giving our children the best of the best and the most security possible.
Well, stopping the increase to the debt is the best of the best and the most security you can provide. I do not know about the rest of you, but as of today, I still have not seen that much to be appreciative of from my investment. My children deserve better and so do yours! Demand a change!
