I think it would be much better to have a drugstore than a car lot in the downtown. We have so many of them, and I don’t think the ice house is ugly.

When I was a child going to school, I used to go by the ice house, and I would get pieces of ice to chew on.

The people at the ice house would also give me a larger chunk, which I put in the basket of my bicycle, and I had to hurry to get it home before it melted.

I used to go by there on my way to work, and it was there that I met my future husband. He was painting the building, and he came down from the ladder and began talking to me.

Five years later we got married. I included my memories of the ice house in my book, “Sylvia’s Journey.”

I see lots of buildings uglier than the ice house. It’s a good storage building, and it would make a good place to go in a storm. It just needs a little repair.

It certainly has given me a lot of good memories. It would have had several good years still in it if it had been taken care of.

I remember when we were living in Death Valley, our ice box was the bathtub. I was really happy when my mom got electricity. It seemed like a new world.
