The Jan. 1 Republic carries front-page articles on administrative changes (“My absolute best”) and city/county services (“Drivers plow ahead...”), which remind me to express my sincere thanks to some people.
I live in an area of Columbus in which, throughout the reign of the previous administration, the streets had been cleared of large snowfalls somewhere between four and six days after the storm that dumped it. Last week’s foot of snow was cleared in less than 24 hours.
For this, I offer kudos to Mayor Kristen Brown and her staff, and to the dedicated City Garage employees who did the work. Similar and belated thanks go to those same people for repaving nearby “Pothole Drive” a few weeks before the storm, as it had needed serious repairs for 17 years. Finally, my sincere thanks go to the anonymous person or persons who cleared my driveway after the second snow. I hope they read this.
