In reading the Tuesday paper about the bridge near Newbern, I am really concerned about the comment that was made that many people (including some school bus drivers) ignore the posted limit.

I am a Class A CDL driver with a passenger endorsement. I will admit that I have gone over the weight limit on some bridges in the last 20 years to save time. When I did that, I did not put anyone but myself in danger.

Driving a school bus is hard work, but in my opinion I would hope that the police or sheriff who has authority over that road sits a unit down there and tickets the next bus driver who goes over that bridge. I would hope that when that driver copies that ticket to give to the bus transportation manager, (they have to by law) that he or she is fired on the spot.

There is absolutely no excuse to endanger the lives of our children.
