I must respond to the letter from Karin Scarbrough concerning the proposed law exempting people with carry permits from prosecution when they have a firearm on school property.

Why should we attempt to convict otherwise law-abiding citizens of having a firearm in their car when during the course of their daily activities they stop to pick up their children at school? Time and expense would be better spent by the police and the courts educating people in gun safety.

If Ms. Scarbrough is concerned about the violence we have witnessed at several schools in other states, she will find that guns were not allowed on school property there. How well did that law work? Enough said.

Don't settle for a preview.
