From: Kelly Moody

Received: Sept. 15

(On Friday,) my husband (Gary Moody) retired from the Columbus Police Department after 26 years of service.

During his reception the chief of police, Jason Maddix, asked me if I had anything to share. I had plenty, but my eyes were too watery from “allergies.” Allergies? Sure, I was just too choked up to say anything.

Well, now I can write what I wanted to say.

Thank you to all the men and women who have served on the Columbus Police Department with Gary Moody. Thank you for sending him home safely at the end of each shift to his family. He is the foundation of our family, and we’d be lost without him! Thank you for honoring him yesterday. Several men stood up and had a story to tell of how Gary has impacted their lives in law enforcement. Thank you for all that you’ve done for our family in the 20 years we’ve been married.

Columbus is an exceptional city with extraordinary police officers. Officers who we are proud to call our family.

May God richly bless each and every one of you!
