Hope

After reading The Republic on June 11, I was disappointed at the direction that this administration had chosen. The decision made was to completely destroy these properties while looking at the smiling face of the mayor on the front page. Very little if any explanation was provided on how the administration worked to help these people. This leads us to the conclusion that the current administration has no tolerance. If you did not get your garage painted to their specifications, you may be at risk of losing your home.

I will agree that problem properties need to be addressed, but I will not agree to destroying people’s personal property. A logical plan for this type of problem would be for city representatives to work closer with the people who are struggling. I will guess that of the nine properties mentioned, seven of the owners are doing all they can to maintain. We have all seen the turnover this administration has created in the downtown area. We need to stand up when it comes to personal property.

Don't settle for a preview.
