After reading Elizabeth Lowe’s letter of June 19, I felt a need to respond. First and foremost, I value her opinion on this issue. I just think we need to examine the most recent incident for what it was. No one advocated stricter gun laws that I read. There may be a small faction of extremists who want to dispose of all guns. I have yet to meet or hear from that group.

Your concerns need to be addressed by line item. It was written that we have the right to bear arms. Agreed, but you don’t have the right to accidentally shoot my grandkids or my wife. You say this young lady was just grazed. I call baloney. If that were your child, I guarantee your response would not be the same.

I, like many others, am not wanting to pry your cold dead fingers off your gun. What we are hoping for is that people who choose to carry guns act with the responsibility that gun ownership requires.
