New bleachers for Columbus North football field.

There’s always something the BCSC board wants to spend money on. If it isn’t footing the bill for pre-K education, thankfully turned down by the voting public, it’s something else. Now they want to spend $2 million on facility improvements in the way of new home bleachers at Columbus North High School. I hadn’t read in The Republic, or anywhere else for that matter, that the existing bleachers at Columbus North are in disrepair or putting the safety of fans at risk. I haven’t been to many events there, but when I was, other than the fact that bleacher seats do get cold as heck, I didn’t see anything wrong with them.

So, instead of the BCSC board dedicating (now say this like Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers series) “Two million dollars” ... to facility improvements, why don’t they reinvest that money in something more important. How about better pay for school teachers? Better yet, instead of raising the price of lunch for all students by 10 cents, why don’t they just apply that $2 million toward free lunches for all students at all levels?

Either suggestion, in my opinion, would be better than improved seating for a few fans at a handful of sporting events at North High School.
