Sometime around the end of October each year, The Republic newspaper offers to the families of military veterans of the United States the opportunity to honor those veterans by running “Salute Your Heroes & Those Who Serve Our Country,” a feature which is printed in the paper on Veterans Day.

This year, I noticed that not as many veterans who served or are currently serving were recognized.

I’m only guessing that may in part be due to economic reasons.

But whatever the reason, I feel that The Republic newspaper should step up and honor our veterans by donating space for this feature at no cost to the families or community.
