I just wanted to say I enjoyed the article in (the Sept. 12 Republic) about the Agnew family.

Our family shared similar commuting dilemmas before making a difficult decision to relocate to Columbus from the metro-Detroit area of Michigan. Our previous jobs had my husband commuting an hour to a General Motors location, while I frequently stayed the week with our teenage son in Ann Arbor so I could commute for an hour (as opposed to two hours) to a job in Lansing at the Capitol. I was usually only home on weekends.

I agonized over quitting my job so my husband could take a great opportunity with Cummins. In the end, it was really the lifestyle issue (along with the uncertainty of the auto industry) that tipped the scales for us.

We were exhausted with our schedule. As odd as I sometimes thought our schedule was, I have actually run into a fair number of folks who have had similar dilemmas, especially back in Michigan, where high unemployment rates were causing some strange commuting lifestyles.

While the move this summer creates uncertainty for my future path, we know we have made the right choice to both be in the same location now as a family. Thanks for sharing a positive story about a similar family who has made the choice for a more civilized life.
