Thank you to everyone who attended the 16th annual Empty Bowls event at Central Middle School on Feb. 1. United Way’s 211 received 2,200 calls from Bartholomew County residents in need of food assistance in 2013. With the community’s support, we were able to raise $13,500 for the local food banks.

This event would not be successful without our partners — United Way of Bartholomew County, C4 Culinary Arts, Columbus Food Co-op, Pride Alliance Columbus and QMIX 107.3. Thanks to the many volunteers who worked the event and those who donated soup, bread and dessert — too many to name, but your efforts are much appreciated, and this event could not happen without you.

Thanks to SIHO for the posters, Warren Ward for the placemats, the local artists for their pieces, Kaleb Horn for his work on the silent auction, Waste Servant for recycling and The Banisters for entertaining us with wonderful music. We hope to see you all next year.

With gratitude,

Empty Bowls Committee
