I was both touched and pleased by Boris Ladwig’s fine article Monday, Oct. 7, regarding my tribute to my younger brother, Bruce. As native sons of Columbus, I speak for both of us: Thanks for allowing the story to run on home turf. Old friends who might have lost touch with Bruce during his extended and heroic battle with muscular dystrophy now have the opportunity to remember him as they knew him years ago. He appreciated outdoor adventure and spent every available moment in the Hoosier backwoods while we were growing up.
On another front — one I consider to be equally important — let me thank you for having done such a fine job of getting the details of the story right. The Republic clearly values journalistic integrity and stands out as a publication that takes pains to present even feature news both objectively and accurately. This speaks well for your treatment of the more pressing news of the day. Such integrity is, in my judgment, both rare and commendable in this day and age. Thanks again.
