From Hal G. Baker
I have lived and worked in Santiago, Chile, under a military junta with a soldier carrying a machine gun on my corner; I have lived and worked in Mexico City with single-party rule; I have lived and worked in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, an absolute monarchy and Islamic state where women have no rights, with religious police who would arrest you if you have a Christian cross or symbol around your neck and where Christian services are outlawed.
All these countries regulated the news content, your health care, had laws against gay citizens and suppressed human rights.
I was a Democrat in my early life and admired Richard B. Stoner, Lee Hamilton and a host of others who had principles and never called the other party and citizens who disagreed with them horrible disgusting names and used government agencies against their opponents. Fast-forward 30 years.
Having observed and listened to ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, MSNBC, CNN, Yahoo News, Google News and a host of others for 40 years, I now hear edited news that is repeatedly aligned with the DNC and what I used to hear in Chile, Saudi Arabia and Mexico. I hear our current president now assuming dictatorial powers because he does not agree with the other parties’ positions or their constituents’ positions.
He claims to be a constitutional professor? Nixonian tactics are now a commonplace tactic with Democrats today, and I hear crickets with the aforementioned media. It’s OK for none of them to say a word when the FCC tries to implement a government policy that would place monitors in newsrooms across the country?
Where is Lee Hamilton on this? Where is the voice of reason and integrity? I don’t get it.
