As we make a list of those we remember at this time of giving, I encourage you to include those in our community who are having a hard time making ends meet.

Recently I spent some time as a volunteer at Love Chapel food pantry. The number asking for help filled the room for several hours, and I was asked to help interview those seeking assistance.

I found that everyone who comes to Love Chapel for help is interviewed, is required to provide identification, proof of a local address, give the number in the household and sign a form which records the date of their visit.

The system isn’t perfect but serves the purpose of helping those who need assistance with food, finances or housing. This year more people are in need of help than in any recent year.

As you make your gift list, I ask you to include Love Chapel, Elizabeth Kestler, director, 311 Center St., Columbus, IN 47201.

Thank you.
