Thirty-thousand new jobs could be created in Indiana with no cost to the state.

Additional benefits of expanding Medicaid include $108 million in state and local tax revenue each year,

$3.4 billion in new state economic activity, $10.5 billion in revenue from the federal government, 406,717 new Medicaid enrollees through 2020, $236 in savings for individuals and $877 for families in annual health insurance premiums beginning in 2014.

According to a study commissioned by the Indiana Hospital Association, expanding Medicaid will provide the above benefits while actually saving taxpayer money. The Medicaid expansion is financed by the federal government. You can check out the facts yourself at www.iha

Seems hard to believe, but all Gov. Mike Pence has to do is say yes to federal money to expand Medicaid to our most vulnerable uninsured Hoosier citizens.

Our governor touts the addition of 758 jobs in Indianapolis at a cost of $3.4 million in tax credits, yet won’t accept federal money to expand care for the needy and add jobs to our state economy. There is no moral reason not to alleviate the suffering of over 400,000 Hoosiers, and according to the hospital study there is no economic reason not to do so.

I have no idea why he puts politics ahead of the health and economic well-being of Hoosiers, but I know we can fight back by letting our state representative know how we feel.
