I am writing regarding the article by Brian Blair on the Irwin-Sweeney-Miller Foundation’s gifts to the community over the years. It is certainly a pleasure to read such a positive story, written by a writer as gifted as Mr. Blair.

I have long enjoyed his articles and suggested that he write a daily op-ed column such as Harry McCawley did for the past few years. I feel that this would make up for the loss of the syndicated columnists who no longer appear in the The Republic: Cal Thomas, Kathleen Parker, Eugene Robinson, etc.

It is my belief that this community would benefit from Mr. Blair’s talents in this way more than we now do. His intelligence, insight and wry wit are very rare these days.
