I have been a citizen of Bartholomew County for most of my life and am in a family where politics has always been a big part of my life. My dad (Eugene Eckrote) was a County Council member, and he was always very involved in politics for this county. He made sure that he knew a candidate before he voted for or publicly supported them. He instilled those qualities in me.

That is why I am writing this letter, because there is an election coming on May 6 and not everyone is certain whom they want to vote for.

I believe after researching the candidates, you will agree that Todd Noblitt is the right person for sheriff of Bartholomew County. He is celebrating 25 years with the sheriff’s office this year. He has held numerous positions within the department and has only moved positions as a result of promotions.

Noblitt’s current position at the sheriff’s office is chief deputy. This means his position is directly below the sheriff, and he is involved in the day-to-day operations of the office. He assists the sheriff with preparing the largest budget within the county. He is aware of the daily operations of the jail.

He is the individual who informs the community of different things in the county as the public information officer. He is not the PIO because he is running for office. In fact, he held this position before he decided to run for sheriff. He is the PIO because, after the sheriff, he is most knowledgeable of what is occurring within the county and what is most important for the community to be aware of, whether it is an accident on the interstate, a robbery or a drug bust.

Noblitt is a Christian family man who has, in my opinion, some of the best values of any individual that I have ever met.

His son is very active at Columbus Christian School as a basketball player. Noblitt, along with his son and wife, Mary, traveled to Tennessee for his son to compete in the national championship along with his teammates.

This was during a time that he could have been out campaigning and attending meetings to get his name out, but he chose to support his son and his teammates in something that was extremely important to them. This, to me, says a lot about his integrity.

He coached the girls basketball team at Columbus Christian School and is also active in his church, Community Church of Columbus.

There are numerous other things about him that I could tell you, but these are the main reasons why I am voting for Todd Noblitt for sheriff. I hope that you, too, will vote for the most qualified, law-abiding person for the position — Todd Noblitt.
