Columbus area families have been escaping the lingering outdoor chill this spring break by taking advantage of special programing at the Bartholomew County Public Library.
Of the 15 programs the library had scheduled for spring break, 12 filled within two weeks of being announced in February. Two of the programs, geared toward ages 0 to 8 years, had waiting lists.
The library has seen a swell of visitors this week from people who normally don't have the chance due to other commitments, said Jennifer Tchida, head of youth services. She said that included a lot of new faces. As a result, book and DVD checkouts, as well as computer usage, are all up, Tchida said.
