Outdoor Sunday School moving to a new sidewalk

Sidewalk Sunday School, an outdoor, Christian children’s gathering, is moving to a new sidewalk.

The 2012 schedule of the outreach shared by First Christian Church, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and Second Baptist Church begins at 10 a.m. today at Pence Street Park. It had met at Ninth Street Park for several years.

The free gatherings feature a Bible lesson, music, snacks, prizes and more. Organizers aim to bring the Gospel to children’s doorsteps to show them God’s love “in a manner they can understand,” according to promotional material.

Remaining Sidewalk events are July 7, 14, 21 and 28.

In the past, the show has attracted perhaps 15 cars at a time, according to pastor Kirby Rupp. That has included Model-Ts, hot rods, muscle cars and even a dragster.
