COLUMBUS, Ind. — Tissue boxes, soda bottles and Legos will be transformed into speedy solar sprinters Saturday in the 24th annual Junior Solar Sprint.
The event, sponsored by Cummins and organized by the local chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers, aims to attract middle school students to careers in science and engineering.
It does that by giving students a hands-on challenge: Go build a car that is powered by the sun using whatever material you choose.
