‘Taste of Mexico’ set for today at kidscommons

Halloween is over, but now it’s time to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, when kidscommons and the Bartholomew County Historical Society present “A Taste of Mexico.”

The free event will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at kidscommons, 309 Washington St.

Activities will include music, food and crafts to celebrate Mexican heritage, with a special emphasis on the Dia de los Muertos holiday. One adult is required for every five children.

On Saturday, visitors to kidscommons can be a part of the downtown construction with Construction Day. Kids are invited to make a tool belt or dump truck puppet, then build a city on a floor map of Columbus. The first 300 children will receive a play hard hat to take home, courtesy of Rieth-Riley Construction Co.

Kidscommons will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and regular admission is $6.
