North graduate helps Tigers golfers to runner-up finish

Taylor Gohn finished 20th individually to help the Missouri women’s golfers to a second-place finish in the Tigers’ Johnie Imes Invitational on Oct. 1 and 2.

Gohn, a junior from Columbus North, carded rounds of 78, 77 and 69 for a 224 total at The Club at Old Hawthorn. She recorded eight birdies and an eagle.

Time changed for open gym

at Northside Middle School

The open gym scheduled for Saturday at Northside Middle School has been changed to 10:30 a.m. to noon. It is open to all middle school girls, regardless of school.

Hamilton Center planning

ice skating, hockey lessons

Registration is under way for the Fall 2 session of group ice skating and hockey lessons at Hamilton Center Ice Arena. Classes begin the week of Oct. 22 for ages 4 and older.

Running for the Stars 5K

scheduled for Saturday night

Family School Partners will host the Running for the Stars 5K run/walk at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at The Commons. The race will wind through the streets of downtown Columbus.

Registration will be available from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Saturday at The Commons and is $25 for ages 19 and older, $20 for ages 12 to 18 and free for ages 11 and younger, with proceeds benefiting Family School Partners. Mail-in and dropoff registrations are also available at the BCSC administration building.

FFY taking registrations for Biddy Basketball boys, girls

Foundation For Youth is taking registrations for Biddy Basketball for boys and girls in Grades K-12 through Oct. 26.

Youth flag football

registration still available

Indiana Youth Flag Football is still taking registrations for its upcoming fall season for boys and girls ages 4 to 12. Games will be played on Sunday afternoons at Clifty Creek Park.

Cost is $98.50 and includes an NFL jersey and flag belts. If interested, call 317-759-2691.

Runners sought for Coleman 5K run scheduled for Oct. 28

The Bev Coleman 5K Run/Walk will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 28 at Sandy Hook United Methodist Church. Registration will begin at 2 p.m. and is available online at signmeup/86876.

Cost is $20 before Monday and includes a $5 Subway gift card, or $25 after Monday, with proceeds benefiting the youth ministries of Sandy Hook United Methodist. Awards will be given to the top two places in 11 men’s and women’s age groups.

North Volleyball Club plans

to conduct meetings

The Columbus North Volleyball Club will hold parent/player informational meetings at 4 p.m. Oct. 28 and 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at the North High School gym for girls in Grades 4-8. All interested players and their parents should attend one of the meetings. Tryouts will be Nov. 11-12 and 14.

Tennis league being formed, with matches at local school

Weekly singles matches will be played tentatively on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at the Richards Elementary School tennis courts for anyone interested. Very informal.

Hanover preparing to have

Little Panther hoops tourney

Hanover College will host the 16th annual Little Panther basketball tournament Dec. 9 for boys and girls teams in Grades 3-6. Cost is $100, with two games guaranteed, with proceeds benefiting the Hanover men’s basketball program.
