Christian athletes group hosting leadership camp

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host a Leadership Camp from Monday to Wednesday at Spring Mill State Park in Mitchell for students entering Grades 7 to 12.

The Leadership Camp will focus on enabling students to become leaders in their local FCA Huddles, on their teams, and in their schools, communities and churches.

Coaches, adult Huddle leaders and volunteers are welcome to attend training that is especially designed for them and their training roles in FCA.

The camp will feature Indianapolis Colts community spokesman and Iraq War veteran Josh Bliel, former Chicago Bears and IU football chaplain Steve Conner and other current and former college athletes.

Columbus Boomers prepare for camp

Columbus Boomers will host the Future Boomer Camp on Tuesday to Thursday from 4 to 4:45 p.m. for ages 3 to 5 and from 5 to 6 p.m. for ages 6 to 8.

IU assistant coach will be guest at prep clinic

Indiana University assistant coach Ernie Yarborough will be a guest clinician for the College Prep Camp for the Columbus North boys soccer team from 9:30 a.m. to noon

July 21 to 23.

North football planning ‘Golf For the Gridiron’

Columbus North football will host “Golf For the Gridiron” at 1 p.m. Thursday at Harrison Lake.

Cost is $100 per player and includes greens fees, cart, range balls, lunch, refreshments and the chance to win prizes. Sponsorships are available, ranging from $100 to $1,000.

East plans annual golf outing at Timbergate

The Columbus East Boys Basketball Fourth Annual Golf Outing will be at noon Friday at Timbergate.

Cost is $400 per team. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

Shadowood course to host Anchor House event

The inaugural Anchor House Golf Outing will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Shadowood. Lunch will be at 11 a.m., and registration will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Cost is $75 per person and includes greens fees, cart, range balls, prize drawings, lunch and a photo, with proceeds benefiting the Anchor House Family Assistance Center. There will be contests with prizes, including a 2014 Cadillac for a hole-in-one winner.

Registration underway for PAAL football season

Registration for PAAL football is open through Friday for those entering kindergarten to Grade 6. The season will begin July 28.

Jennings Middle School announces sports dates

Jennings County Middle School will conduct a Fall Sports Parent Meeting at 6 p.m. July 21 in the school’s north gym.

Mandatory concussion testing for football and soccer will be from 1 to 5 p.m. July 21, 9 to 11 a.m. July 25 and 9 to 11 a.m.

July 28 to 30 at Jennings County High School. All athletes must have a sports physical and concussion form dated after April 1 on file. Football players who were tested as seventh-graders last year do not need to be tested again.

Football practice will begin from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 22 at the middle school, cross-country practice will begin from 6 to 7:15 p.m. July 22 at Muscatatuck County Park, soccer practice will begin from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 22 at Sand Creek Elementary School, and volleyball practice will begin from 5 to 7 p.m. July 28 at the middle school.

Columbus Youth Hockey to host golf tournament

The Columbus Youth Hockey and Bryan Ritz Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be at 1 p.m. July 30 at Otter Creek.

Cost is $125 per individual, $400 per team, $35 for dinner only or $100 for a tee sign. Sponsorships are available for $400, $650

and $850.

East girls to host Orange Dash, Orange Challenge

The Columbus East girls cross-country team will host the Orange Dash 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile Orange Challenge at 8 a.m. Aug. 2 at the Mill Race Park tower.

Cost is $25 for the Orange Dash and includes a T-shirt if registered by July 23, $7 for the Orange Challenge or $30 for both.
