IT’S not too early to start planning for fall break, observed during the weeks of Oct. 7 and 14 when school will be out of session in Bartholomew County.
If you’re staying in town, consider checking out programming offered by the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department. From sports and day camps to tea parties, there’s a range of programming for youths of all ages and interests.
Last year’s programming was very successful, said Katia Hatter, marketing and public relations coordinator for the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department.
Some programs, such as the Princess Teas at Hamilton Center Ice Arena and Magic Camp at Donner Center, were so popular they will return again this year, Hatter said.
“We are focusing on things that did well,” Hatter said. “We had great participation and are expecting the same this year.”
For events that require registration, get your name in as soon as possible, Hatter suggests.
Early registration often helps determine community interest and, if there aren’t enough children registered, the program could be subject to cancellation, Hatter said.
“If something stands out that you believe your child would be interested in, sign him up,” Hatter said.
Here are some events and classes being offered between Oct. 7 and Oct. 18.
