Mailboxes damaged in area near fairgroundsAlmost a dozen mailboxes were destroyed or damaged by vandals in a neighborhood southwest of the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds, police said.
The incidents occurred late Wednesday or early Thursday in the 2300 block of Orchard Creek Drive, said Columbus Police Department spokesman Lt. Matt Myers.
As a result, officers will increase patrols in the Shadow Creek Farms subdivision south of County Road 200S, Myers said.
On Tuesday, three other reports of mailbox vandalism, also in the southwest part of Bartholomew County, were reported to the sheriff’s department.
The damage likely was done by either a baseball bat or some type of pole, Deputy Sheriff Maj. Todd Noblitt said.
Columbus Police are asking anyone who might have seen or knows anything about the damage to contact police at 376-2600.
