Main break leaves Hope residents without water

Follow The Republic:

HOPE — A water line break Wednesday afternoon left most Hope residents without water for much of the evening.

The break on Maple Street occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m., said Hope Police Department spokesman Rick Everroad.

Everroad was told by Hope Utilities officials that the water service was supposed to be restored to all customers no later than 10 p.m.

He added the police station was flooded with phone calls from all over the town within minutes.

Efforts by The Republic to contact Hope Utilities were unsuccessful, due to the high volume of phone calls it received.
