An attempted traffic stop led to a police pursuit and the arrest of a North Vernon man on multiple charges.
North Vernon Police Patrolman Justin Black said he saw a white Honda driving recklessly while patrolling in the 2100 block of North State Street in North Vernon.
The driver refused to pull over, turned into the Brookside subdivision, ran into a ditch along Hurley Drive and drove north into Hickory Manor Court. The man was found hiding under a mobile home in the 2000 block of Hickory Manor Court, Black said.
Shane Coffey, 26, was taken to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital for treatment of facial injuries before he was taken to the Jennings County Jail.
Coffey was arrested on charges of: Resisting law enforcement by fleeing in a vehicle and unlawful possession of a syringe, both Class D felonies; resisting law enforcement by fleeing on foot and possession of paraphernalia, both Class A misdemeanors; disorderly conduct, Class B misdemeanor; operating a vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident and driving while intoxicated, each Class C misdemeanors.
Formal charges, if any, will be determined by the office of Jennings County Prosecutor Alan Marshall.
