A woman claims another motorist pointed a handgun at her as both were driving on a busy Columbus thoroughfare, police said.
But the northern Bartholomew County man jailed after the incident said the female driver just saw him moving the weapon from his waistband to his dashboard.
Marcus L. Artis, 28, of 11848 State Road 9, Hope, was arrested minutes after the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday incident near 10th Street and National Road on charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Class C felony.
The 44-year-old complainant told police she saw a man driving a beige Honda Accord pull up next to her vehicle and point a firearm at her, according to a police statement.
After using her cellphone to provide detailed information to an emergency dispatcher, officers were able to locate Artis driving a vehicle matching the description, the statement said.
As of Friday morning, Artis remained in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $25,000 surety or $2,500 cash bond.
The office of Bartholomew County Prosecutor Bill Nash will determine what charges, if any, to file.
