Man dies after 2-vehicle crash

NORTH VERNON — A Jennings County man died Thanksgiving morning from injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle crash on State Road 7 near North Vernon.

Michael Taylor, 21, of North Vernon, died Thursday at University Hospital in Louisville, Ky., Indiana State Police said.

Taylor was driving north on State Road 7 about three miles north of North Vernon about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday when a southbound pickup truck driven by Devin R. Fear, 18, of Scipio, drove into the northbound lanes and struck Taylor’s car, according to Sgt. Noel Houze, spokesman for Indiana State Police. The cause of the crash is unknown, Houze said.

Taylor suffered injuries that were believed to be life-threatening. He was transported to Jennings St. Vincent Hospital in North Vernon and then flown to University Hospital.

Fear suffered broken bones and bruises, Houze said. He was taken to Jennings St. Vincent Hospital. His condition was unavailable Thursday afternoon.

Trooper Matt Holley was assisted at the scene by Jennings County Sheriff’s Department deputies. The crash remains under investigation.
