Army National Guard Pvt. Shelby E. Schleter has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Schleter (Seymour High School 2011) is the daughter of Erin Schleter and Nate Sciarra, both of Seymour.

Navy Ensign Matthew T. Ulery recently graduated from Navy Officer Candidate School at Officer Training Command, Newport, R.I. Ulery (Columbus East High School 2006) is the son of Lacretia and Bradford Ulery of Columbus.

Army Spc. Brandy M. Hamlin recently graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Hamlin (Indiana State University 2007) is the daughter of Trina Britt of Columbus.

Army Spc. Jarrod D. Wright recently graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Wright (Purdue University 2010) is the son of Linda and Dan Wright of Vernon.

Navy Seaman Apprentice William J. Volk recently graduated from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Volk (North Decatur High School 2011) is the son of Sandra and David Volk of Greensburg.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Adrian L. Hunter, currently deployed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, recently joined fellow sailors and Marines in a ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Midway. Hunter is the son of Jackie Hunter and Kenny Hunter, both of Columbus.

Navy Seaman Evan H. Bevers recently graduated from the Fire Control Technician School with honors. Bevers (Ball State University 2010) is the son of Elizabeth and Jonathan Bevers of Columbus.

Air Force Airman Evan S. House recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. House, a graduate of Jennings County High School, is the son of Glenda Brogdon of North Vernon and Sam House of Dupont.

Air Force Airman Brayden K. Barthlow recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Barthlow (Columbus North High School 2008) is the son of Erin McDermott and brother of Brandi Barthlow, both of Columbus.

Air Force Airman Zachary K. Lester recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Lester is the son of Michael and Rebecca Lester of North Vernon.
