COLUMBUS, Ind. — The National Weather Service is predicting 10 to 14 inches of snow will fall in Columbus between 1 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, said Ed Reuter, director of the Bartholomew County Emergency Operations Center.
Wind gusts of up to 40 mph and temperatures around 10 degrees also are expected.
Similar conditions are expected for other communities in south-central Indiana, Reuter said.
Reuter advised people to monitor the media for weather updates and to travel only if absolutely necessary. If people travel, they should tell other people of their travel plans and take an emergency kit.
Also, people should not call Bartholomew County's 911 center for weather updates, Reuter said. Instead, they should call the Indiana State Police road and weather conditions line, 800-261-7623.
