After multiple thefts from vehicles early last week, the Columbus Police Department reported at least six similar break-ins during the weekend.
Investigators are following leads to determine if the thefts are related, police said.
“We do have some information to work from,” said police spokesman Lt. Matt Myers, who explained his department has obtained video surveillance tapes taken from both a parking lot and parking garage where some of the crimes took place.
Police said the thefts were made at a variety of locations throughout Columbus. In most cases, windows were broken during daylight hours to gain entry to the vehicles.
People are leaving valuable items, including computers, in plain view within their passenger compartments, Myers said.
Anyone with information should call Detective Tom Foust at 376-2600.
