Follow The Republic:

Hope Police have identified the motorcyclist involved in Tuesday's accident near the Hope Subway as Gregory A. Coy, 67, of Flat Rock.

Coy was flown by Lifeline helicopter to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he is listed in critical condition, according to IU Methodist hospital officials.

Hope Police continue to investigate the accident, which happened at 3:34 p.m. Tuesday, in which Coy's motorcycle collided with a car that then careened into the Hope Subway restaurant.

The two people in the car were identified by Hope police as Michael S. Lonaker, 20, Hope, and Erica Paetzel, 20 Hope. Lonaker refused treatment at the scene and Paetzel was treated at Columbus Regional Hospital for shoulder pain.

A young child in the car was not injured.

Police said the accident occurred on State Road 9 in front of the shopping center where the Subway is located. The car was traveling south on State Road 9, preparing to turn into the shopping center. The motorcycle was going north and as the car turned into the motorcycle's path, the motorcycle T-boned the car, police said. The car then traveled about 100 yards through a lawn and parking lot crashing into the front of the Subway. No one was injured in the restaurant.
